Recommended preparation methods:

The Hectaguda Microlot is an Indian specialty coffee grown in the heart of the Araku Valley nature reserve at an altitude of 1,050 meters. This microlot, from the Arabica Selection 9 variety, is cultivated by Dobatti Polayya in the village of Hectaguda and hand-harvested according to the principles of organic, environmentally-friendly agriculture.

Processed using a natural method, the coffee develops a perfectly balanced cup, where notes of redcurrant, raspberry, and hibiscus provide lovely vibrancy, while a velvety body reveals delicate notes of warm brown spices. With a cupping score of 88, this specialty coffee expresses all the aromatic richness and complexity of the Araku Valley terroir.

Roasted as an omni-roast, the Hectaguda Microlot reveals all its finesse in both filter and espresso preparations. A rare and authentic Indian coffee, available in a limited edition.

Polayya family, Hectoguda village

In Hectaguda, Dobatti Polayya is part of a new generation of producers shaping the future of coffee in the Araku Valley. For the past three years, he has carefully cultivated his coffee plot, attentive to every detail of the surrounding ecosystem: the fruit and forest trees, the living soil, the coffee plants, and the vegetation that makes up his environment.

On his plot, the coffee trees grow in the shade of rich, diverse vegetation, amidst fruit trees, pepper vines, and forest. Here, every intervention is designed to preserve this balance while improving the quality of the harvest. Through regular pruning and the recentering of the coffee trees, Dobatti Polayya keeps the plants at an optimal height. Precise shade management allows light and air to circulate between the branches, promoting healthier growth and uniform maturation of the coffee cherries.

Un microlot de café de spécialité est un café qui présente des caractéristiques uniques et hors du commun pour un café bio

What is a specialty coffee microlot?

The Araku Valley is organized around a cooperative that brings together thousands of farmers. Each farming family owns one or more plots where their coffee trees grow. During the harvests, all coffee plots (or lots) are tasted separately by a group of experts in order to classify and blend the different lots. Plots with similar characteristics are grouped into terroirs, and the best lots, those with unique and exceptional characteristics, are distinguished as Microlots.

FAQs

The Hectaguda Microlot undergoes a natural process. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are dried whole, with their pulp and mucilage, allowing the sugars and aromas naturally present in the fruit to develop gradually around the bean. Once drying is complete, the dried cherries are hulled to remove the pulp and the various dry layers surrounding the bean. This natural process contributes to the fruity, complex, and generous profile of the Hectaguda Microlot, with its notes of redcurrant, raspberry, and hibiscus.

Our Saradabonduguda microlot is limited to 100 200g pouches of specialty coffee beans.

The concept of specialty coffee corresponds to a quality certification awarded to the world's best Arabica coffees by the Specialty Coffee Association. To be identified as such, coffees are tasted and graded by "cuppers" (SCA certified experts). If the total score is above 80/100, then the coffee can claim the designation of specialty coffee. All Araku coffees are specialty coffees, and all have obtained a tasting score of at least 86.
